December 13 Luncheon

On December 13 Frances Bowen will again be hosting our Christmas luncheon at Cafe Elan at Chateau Elan at 12 noon. This is the restaurant in the Winery. We have been there once before and decided that we liked the Cafe Elan better than the more expensive restaurant in the Inn.  Take Exit 126 from I-85.

As we have done for the past two years, we shall be exchanging gifts. Please bring a wrapped gift -- value not to exceed $10.  Please let  Frances know by December 11 if you will be attending.

November Luncheon

Many thanks to Kay Fulmer for handling this great luncheon. As Always, the food was out of this world.  Attending were Frances Bowen, Berna Spencer, Nell Foster, Joan Thornton, Kay Fulmer, Avonel Horne, Jackie Hanna, and Bettye Chambers.

Golden Girl Surgeries

Frances seems to be doing really well following her recent surgery. So nice to see Avonel Horne who looks great following her recent surgeries.  She has more surgery for the Paget's Disease after Christmas. Kay Fulmer had thumb and hand surgery on her  right hand on November 21.  She will be in a cast for 4+ weeks and will not be able to type or use the mouse. She said that she will miss out on some good emails but it is better than having 1,000 emails to go through.

Recently we learned that Judy Young, who has moved to Maggie Valley, NC, has also had breast cancer this year. She had the lumpectomy and is currently taking chemo to be followed by radiation for about six weeks.. She said that they caught it early and the prognosis looks very good.

Judy makes the third Golden Girl who has had breast cancer this year. Avonel Horne and Frances Bowen have  also had it this year and came through the surgery really well.  Remember girls -- don't forget to have your mammogram every single year.

Please remember these three girls in your prayers that their recovery will be swift and thorough.

Raise a Purple Finger for Freedom
Please remember the Iraqi people on December 15!

Show solidarity with free Iraqis in their upcoming election December 15. This is being promoted by Bill Bennett on his Radio Show and also by Former Speaker Newt Gingrich and others who are pulling for the success of this election.  If you are so inclined to show your support, please ink your finger or wear a purple ribbon for several days leading up to the election.

I'AM PASSING THIS TO ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
THANK YOU AND " MERRY CHRISTMAS " TO YOU AND YOURS.

On the way home last night I was listening to the car radio, when the DJ called his little 91 year old granny to talk to her about the "Holidays". He mentioned that he had noticed that Christmas has become so "politically correct" that no mention of Christmas is made by most retailers, we now wish people "Happy Holidays."

His granny said she missed the Old Fashioned Christmas when everyone wished each other "Merry Christmas". I thought about it and agree...so this year I will be making a conscious effort to wish everyone Merry Christmas...my way of saying that I am celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. So I'm asking my email buddies, if you agree with me, to please do the same. And if you'll pass this on to your email buddies, and so on...maybe we can prevent one more American tradition from being lost in the sea of "Political Correctness."

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON - God Bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

"There is not enough darkness in the world to put out the
light of one small candle. "
